Step 1: Measure the Ceiling AreaYou will need a measuring tape. Measure Your Ceiling Beside Width from Limit Take Careful measurements of the Width & Length Also. After you get those measurements, take a piece of paper and record such numbers somewhere on it.
Choose the Placement of Your Grid: The next thing you have to do is plan where your ceiling grid goes. Will it be square, or will it oblong? You need to know the exact position of where you want this grid on your ceiling.
Locate the Center of the Ceiling and Draw a Line: Now, you will need to locate where the ceiling center is. To determine this, measure from one wall sensor to the other and then find its center point. After having that point, a straight line will be drawn from one end of the ceiling to another. That line is the centerline, and it will serve you as a guide on your drawing process.
From the Centerline: Once you have drawn your centerline, measure from that line to both of the edges where it meets up with a ceiling Take note of those distances. After measurements you need to divide the total distance of satellite into two equal parts, This will help you keep a neat grid.
Mark the Grid — Next you must begin marking off the grid lines on your ceiling now. Start by placing a small mark every two feet along the centerline on either side. Continue to make these marks along the ceiling until you get to other side. This way you have a clear reference point for laying in your grid lines.
Use the Lines: A chalk line will help you keep everything nice and straight so be sure to use it. A chalk line tool to make straight lines into the sand. Repeat using each line you drew from one side of the ceiling to another. This will allow to keep the grid straight and aligned.
